NBC4i : declared in Health officials confirm Zika case in Clark County

CLARK COUNTY, OH (WCMH) — Health officials in Clark County have confirmed that a case of Zika has been diagnosed in a person who had recently traveled abroad. There is no vaccine to prevent Zika. Health officials are currently canvassing the Willow Chase neighborhood north of Springfield to educate residents on how to protect themselves. According to the health district, there is no evidence that Zika is being transmitted locally. Prevent sexual transmission of Zika by using condoms or not having sex.


Zika case confirmed in Clark County

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A case of Zika has been confirmed in Clark County by the county's Combined Health District. Zika is primarily transmitted through a mosquito bite, it's not believed that it can be spread from person to person through "casual contact." When used as directed, these insect repellents are proven safe and effective even for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Use Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered insect repellents. The most common symptoms of Zika are fever, rash, joint pain and conjunctivitis (red eyes).

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – The Clark County Combined Health District (CCCHD) Thursday confirmed a previously suspected case of Zika for a traveler returning from a Zika affected area. The most common symptoms of Zika virus are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes). A "relative" of the mosquito is found in parts of Ohio and may potentially transmit Zika virus.
