MCALLEN, Texas - Hidalgo County Health Officials are determining how a McAllen resident contracted the Zika virus. County health officials and the city of McAllen are teaming up to prevent a Zika outbreak, after a resident tested positive for the virus last week. Josh Ramirez - McAllen Health Director said, "We want to assure the citizens that we've been proactive and controlling the mosquitoes. Health officials in McAllen, are not taking any risks with this recent case, and have decided to test mosquitoes all around the city. The city of McAllen will be spraying for mosquitoes in several areas of town, including the section where the person was diagnosed.
