NC Health Officials Say Flu Cases On The Rise quoting : WUNC

"When they compare people who got the flu vaccine to people who did not get the flu vaccine, the ones who didn't get the flu vaccine are about twice as likely to get flu," Moore said. The state Department of Health and Human Services is reporting that the flu is now widespread with a high intensity across North Carolina. State officials say 32 flu-related deaths were reported as of last week. But Moore said there's always a lag time in reported deaths, and he expects the number to be much higher by the end of flu season. Anyone who believes they have the flu can talk to their doctor about antiviral medicines, which can alleviate symptoms and shorten the time they're sick.

She says you still have time to get it before flu season hits its peak sometime in March. Findley says this year's flu vaccine seems to be less effective than usual. There haven't been any reports of any schools closed in Greene County because of the flu. The Springfield-Greene County Health Department says more than 1,400 cases of the flu have been reported so far this season – compared to around 800-cases last season. But Kendra Findley says last year the Ozarks had an unusually low number of flu cases.

Rising Number Flu Cases Being Reported Across Texas

The only county not reporting flu like illness or cases is Sherman county. The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) released their latest surveillance report on the Flu in Texas. On Friday, DSHS reported that the flu activity has increased in the Amarillo Health Service Region. The last week reported is February 12 through February 18. 1891 of those 2,421 deaths came from people over the age of 65.
