Marmoset monkey model of Zika contagion offers Fresh insights into the human condition
Kjersti Aagaard, M.D., Ph.D.A novel marmoset model of human Zika contagion offers Fresh opportunities for better understanding of the method the virus causes congenital illness in humans. The investigators found which contagion of marmoset dams recapitulates the human contagion further faithfully than contagions in other animal models, providing opportunities to research illness repercussions in ways which weren't formerlyobtainable. For instance, other human viral contagions, like those caused with lassa fever virus, Ebola virus/Marbug virus & dengue fever & West Nile virus, could be reproduced in the popular marmoset. too, the investigators had shown before which Zika contagion in male popular marmosets resembles many aspects of the contagion seen in humans. "We had formerlydemonstrated which Zika replicates in placental cells isolated from normal human term pregnancies, enabling the placenta to serve as a reservoir for the virus & an eventual portal to the emerging fetus.referring to
