A cocktail of 3 antibodies has shown pledge in protecting Zika contagion in monkeys, & moves following into trials in humans, investigators said Wednesday. The mosquito-borne Zika swept across Latin America, the Caribbean & Southern U.S. in 2015 & 2016, sparking a universal health contingency because of its ability to cause brain-related birth defects. While the menace posed by Zika has subsided somewhat because people cannot become infective twice, investigators are pressing on by attempts to develop the premier pollen to protect Zika contagion & its generality dangerous complication, microcephaly in fetuses & babies. "This is a pledging intervention to protect & treat Zika contagion during pregnancy," said David Watkins, a professor at the University of Miami's Miller School of Medicine.
