APIC Honors Florida Infection Prevention Expert With Its Highest AwardThe Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) announces that Stephen Streed, MS, CIC, FAPIC, system director of epidemiology/infection prevention at Lee Health in Fort Myers, Fla, will receive the prestigious Carole DeMille Achievement Award for his innovative contributions and commitment to education in infection control. He was among the first group of IPs to become certified in infection prevention and control (IPC) in 1983. A nationally recognized expert on HAI surveillance, Streed has promoted the use of computers to improve the efficiency of infection prevention data collection since the early 1980s. At the community level he mentors high school and college students to enlighten them on public health careers and share his passion for infection prevention. "We are honored to recognize Steve with this award," said Linda Greene, RN, MPS, CIC, FAPIC, 2017 APIC president.
