Government launches new Test and Treat policy for HIV according to : Hindustan Times

The government on Friday launched a new policy for HIV under which anyone who is tested and found positive will get the necessary treatment. "This new policy will bring life-saving treatment within reach of all people living with HIV. Nadda stressed on the importance of ending stigma to enable persons infected and affected with HIV access health services. Out of 21 lakh people estimated having HIV, only about 14 lakh have been identified yet. "This will be for all men, women, adolescents and children who have been diagnosed as a HIV+ case.

Union Health Minister JP Nadda launched the Test and Treat policy for providing treatment to patients suffering from Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). On the occasion, he also felicitated the community workers who are working for HIV patients and spreading awareness Mr Nadda also said, the government will soon launch a national strategic plan to fight against HIV-AIDS. Mr Nadda said, under the scheme, a person detected HIV positive will be provided ART treatment. Launching the policy at a function in New Delhi yesterday, Mr Nadda said, under it, the government will provide Anti- Retroviral Therapy (ART) treatment to the patients free of cost.
