Elton John Cancels Caesars Palace Shows Due to Bacterial Infection stat : Billboard

Those who were looking forward to seeing Elton John at his "Million Dollar Piano" shows in Las Vegas won't get to see the Rocket Man in Sin City after all. It's unclear whether the Vegas and Bakersfield shows will be rescheduled, but John and his team extend their apologies for the inconvenience. The kind of infection Sir Elton contracted is "rare and potentially deadly," according to the statement. "Upon returning to the UK, Elton's Doctors admitted him to hospital, where he underwent immediate treatment to remove the infection. The 70-year-old singer was forced to cancel all his scheduled Caesars Palace performances for April and May after he contracted a "harmful and unusual bacterial infection" following a tour in South America.

Elton John has canceled all of his Vegas performances through next month due to an illness that forced him to be hospitalized, it was announced on Monday. According to the statement from Rogers and Cowan, after his South American tour, John contracted a rare bacterial infection, and became "violently ill" on his flight home from Chile. John was previously scheduled to perform April 28-29, May 1, and May 4-5 at the Colosseum. I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well," John said in a statement. He was admitted to the hospital when he returned home to the U.K., and spent two nights in intensive care.

He first played his Million Dollar Piano show at the same venue in September 2011 and has played there every year since. He played a leg of Million Dollar Piano gigs there this past February. A "harmful and unusual bacterial infection" has forced Elton John to cancel his upcoming April and May run of "The Million Dollar Piano" gigs at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, as well as his May 6th show in Bakersfield, California. He spent two nights in intensive care at a U.K. hospital, where he received treatment to remove the infection and was released on April 22nd. A video release of his 2012 residency, also titled The Milloin Dollar Piano, was broadcast in cinemas and released in stores in April 2014.
