KOCO : reported that 11 more flu-related deaths reported this week in Oklahoma

Eleven more flu-related deaths have been reported this week in Oklahoma, bringing the total number of flu deaths since the beginning of Sept. 2016 to 48, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health. AdvertisementOfficials said there have been five flu-related deaths this season in Oklahoma County. The other deaths were reported in Tulsa, Beckham, Blaine, Bryan, Canadian, Cleveland, Craig, Creek, Grant, Johnston, Kay, Lincoln, Logan, Mayes, McCurtain, Pittsburg, Pottawatomie, Rogers, Stephens, Texas, Wagoner and Washita counties. The 16 flu-related deaths occurred between February 19 and February 25. The Center for Disease Control says 63 individuals have died from flu-related deaths in North Carolina so far this season, which began on October 2, 2016. The information on the sixteen deaths were in accordance with information submitted by providers to the North Carolina Division of Public Health. Flu symptoms include a 100-degree Fahrenheit fever, cough and/or sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headaches, body aches, chills, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea.

Delaware sees 4th and 5th flu-related deaths

Young people 24 and under are being hit especially hard this season, with 54 percent of flu cases in Delaware occurring in that age range. DPH recommends getting vaccinated, washing your hands covering coughs and sneezes, as well as staying home when you're ill. Officials report the number of flu cases in the First State continues to significantly outpace a year ago. Division of Public Health reports two elderly men with underlying health conditions died from flu-related causes this month. Those are the fourth and fifth flu-related deaths this year in Delaware.
