wset : reported that Flu cases continue to rise in Central Virginia

Doctors say while the number of flu cases has increased, the strains have not become more aggressive. "We're testing a little bit more aggressively because we want to make sure that we're catching more flu cases." At the Immediate Care location on Lakeside Drive alone, 65 patients testing positive so far this month. And catching to cases is what doctors say will help keep the virus from continuing to spreading so quickly. Reports are showing an influx of cases statewide and here at home.

Flu cases rising along Treasure Coast, Brevard County

The annual flu season isn't expected to peak for another three weeks. The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone ages six months and older, including pregnant women, according to state health officials. Since the start of the flu season in mid October, there have been 74 outbreaks statewide, mainly in nursing home or long-term care facilities. For information about flu shot clinics, call a doctor or a county health departments. Health officials are advising anyone who didn't get a flu shot to get one, which Blackledge plans to do so he doesn't get sick again.
