A Virginia woman won a $1m verdict today against a nail salon that allegedly caused a bacterial infection and scarring.Samantha Payne won $1,003,536 in compensatory damages and $50,000 in punitive damages following a pedicure from the former Red Nails of T & I in Richmond in 2012.The salon is now called Red Nails, is under new ownership, and has seen no disciplinary action taken against it.

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Henrico County Circuit Court ruled recently that a local nail salon was liable after a patron contracted a severe infection that left her permanently scarred.The verdict awarded the patron $1 million in compensation after she developed painful boil-like lesions on her legs after a pedicure at the Willow Lawn salon in 2012.She was later diagnosed with a cutaneous mycobacterial infection.
