NWA : declared in Number of Flu Cases Up in Young Patients - Story

KNWA - Doctors say this flu season, they're seeing a rise in the number of young patients affected. Doctors do say that we could be nearing the end of flu season. Fever is less common with a cold than with the flu, so taking your temperature could be helpful in determining what's wrong. Experts say cold symptoms should last a few days. People with colds tend to have runny or stuffy noses, while the flu happens more quickly and is more intense.


Confirmed Flu Cases Continue To Rise - LEX18.com

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) - Health officials say the number of confirmed flu cases and flu related deaths seen across the state continue to rise in large numbers. Over the last week, confirmed cases of the flu have jumped from 584 to 810. Four weeks ago, the number of confirmed cases was barely hitting the 300 mark with only six deaths. The state has also seen a total of 16 flu related deaths so far this year. Officials say it's common around this time of year for higher flu case numbers and as the cold weather continues, those numbers could continue to rise.

Flu Cases Remain Consistent in Tom Green County
Also, from Feb. 12 to Feb. 18, there were 69 reported cases of flu in Tom Green County. Combat the FluJohn Canion, Nurse Practitioner at Community Urgent Care, gave his advice to help citizens of Tom Green County during the flu season. If someone is not sure that they have contracted influenza, Canion recommended setting up an appointment with a family physician. "It hasn't missed any populations."The flu season typically ends around late March, early April. Canion noted it usually picks up again in October, but not nearly as quickly as the current time period.
