An outbreak of a gastrointestinal infection virus has been reported at the worker accommodation camp for the Site C clean energy project.BC Hydro sent out an alert Saturday morning, and confirmed that nine workers have been affected by the outbreak so far.Those workers have been taken off their shifts and will not return until cleared by medical personnel on site.

(Editor's note: This story was updated with new information at 8:55 p.m. Friday)An outbreak of equine herpes virus has paralyzed the backside at Fair Grounds Race Course for the past two weeks and threatens to derail the rest of the venerable track's once-promising 2016-17 race meet.As of Saturday, 40 horses had tested positive for the highly infectious disease since Dec. 26, causing Louisiana Department of Agriculture officials to place seven of the track's 49 barns under quarantine.State and track officials have also installed a ban on shipping horses in and out of the facility in an effort to control the spread of the disease.
