A British woman has been declared by the doctors as Zika-free after she contracted the disease by being intimate with her partner who recently visited a Zika affected country.It is uncommon for Zika – a disease spread through blood transfusions as well as mosquitoes – to be transmitted through sexual intercourse.There are 265 cases of Zika in the UK but only a single one has been reported to be sexually spread.

As researchers learn more about the devastating health effects of Zika, county crews this past week continued an unprecedented effort to stop the virus from spreading locally.For the 10th time this year, San Diego County's vector-control crews sprayed insecticide in a neighborhood known to have mosquitoes that can carry the virus.The latest spraying took place in the South County neighborhood of Nestor.
