mosquitoes, which don't bite, would mate with females carrying the Zika virusOfficials trying to stop the outbreak of Zika in Miami are exploring the use of mosquitoes infected with bacteria that inhibit the insects' ability to transmit the virus. The approach, called MosquitoMate, involves releasing non-biting male mosquitoes, which seek out and mate with Zika-carrying females. The company behind the plan says that the males effectively find and treat female mosquitoes that bite, blood feed and transmit important diseases, including Zika.
