Following a recent new outbreak of bird flu in several European countries including Germany, Luxembourg's Veterinary Medicine Laboratory have stated that no cases have been detected in the Grand Duchy "up to now."The statement that there were currently no cases in Luxembourg of H5N8, commonly known as bird flu, was made by Fernand Etgen, Minister of Agriculture in parliament on Monday.His announcement was in response to a parliamentary question posed by DP MP Gusty Graas, and Etgen added that his recommendation was for the industry to keep poultry "isolated" for now as a precautionary measure.However he was quick to add that the consumption of meat and eggs is not harmful to human health.

From K J M VarmaBeijing, Nov 21 (PTI) A Chinese woman farmer died after contracting H5N6 avian flu in central Chinas Hunan province, health authorities said today.47-year-old Luo, a farmer from Shaoyang City, was admitted to a local hospital last Friday when her health condition became critical, but she died yesterday, according to the Hunan provincial disease control center (CDC).Luo had contact with dead poultry before she fell ill. No human-to-human transmission has been reported yet .
