Two dead crows found in Monroe County in September have tested positive for West Nile virus, according to the Monroe County Health Department.These are the first birds that have tested positive for West Nile virus in Monroe County since surveillance for the mosquito-transmitted virus began May 1, according to a press release prepared by the health department."These positive birds mean that residents of Monroe County need to be more vigilant in their personal protective measures to prevent mosquito bites," said Sharon Nelson, director of the health department and a health officer.
