BOSTON (WWLP) – The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced on Tuesday that another person was infected with the West Nile Virus in 2016, this time in Suffolk County.According to the Mass.DPH, the patient is in his 70's and was diagnosed with the virus after testing at the Massachusetts State Public Health Laboratory.

A local woman has died from a probable case of West Nile virus, according to the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency.The San Marcos woman, who also had underlying medical conditions, died on Sept. 15.The San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency says initial tests indicated that she may have died from West Nile virus but the findings have not yet been confirmed by the California Department of Public Health.

The Montgomery County Health Department (MCHD) has informed Lower Merion Township that mosquitoes collected from sample tests on September 8th and September 13th tested positive for the West Nile Virus.The samples were taken from Ashbridge Park in Rosemont, Shortridge Park in Wynnewood, and Penn Wynne Park.The Township has NOT been notified of any action deemed necessary by the MCHD in response to the positive tests, but will provide updates if further information becomes available, or if adult mosquito control is needed.The MCHD will continue to monitor Township parks.Taking the following steps from the MCHD website can help reduce the risk of contracting the West Nile Virus or any other mosquito-borne illness:When outdoors, use repellents containing DEET, picaridin, IR3535, some oil of lemon eucalyptus or paramenthane-diol.

KALAMAZOO, MI — A case of West Nile Virus has been confirmed in a Kalamazoo County resident, according to the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department.The case, confirmed Monday, Sept. 19, is the first known case of West Nile Virus in Kalamazoo County this year.West Nile Virus can be transmitted by mosquitoes to humans.
