JOHNS COUNTY, Fla.—Seven new cases of Zika have been reported in Florida, bumping up the total to 771 of cases statewide, including the first reported case in Nassau County, state health officials say.Two new travel-related cases were reported in Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties, the Florida Health Department says in a news release.There are 64 non-travel-related cases in the state, the vast majority of which in a 1-square mile area of Miami, but now there are reported locally contracted cases reported in Pinellas County and Palm Beach County as well.

Nearly 4,000 blood samples found negative for Zika before first locally-transmitted case confirmedSINGAPORE — Close to 4,000 blood samples were tested and found negative for Zika between February and August this year, before the first locally-transmitted case of the infection was confirmed, revealed Health Minister Gan Kim Yong as he explained the authorities' handling of the outbreak which began late last month.Sharing the lessons gleaned from the experience so far, Mr Gan also said that the number of cases detected in recent days has been "coming down", but Singapore cannot afford to be complacent."It is still early days to ascertain what the long-term trend of Zika infections will be," he said, as he called on grassroots leaders, volunteers and residents to continue working together in tackling Zika.
