Dead birds a warning mosquitoes with West Nile virus are busy in late summerThe recent discovery of five dead birds and two chicken flocks latent with the West Nile virus prompted vector control officials to warn residents that late summer is a particularly hungry time for mosquitoes.Two birds carrying the virus were found dead in Concord, and three others were found in Danville, Oakley and Pleasant Hill earlier this month, according to a statement from spokeswoman Deborah Bass of the Contra Costa Vector Control District.That brings the total to 17 dead birds with the virus found this year in Contra Costa County, according to the vector control district.
