NEW HAVEN >> West Nile virus has made its way into New Haven County and scientists have found mosquitoes in West Haven are carrying the virus, according to the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station."We are seeing a marked increase in the number of mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus with recent expansion into new locations in Fairfield, Hartford, and New Haven counties," Philip Armstrong, a medical entomologist at the CAES, said in a release Friday."These increases are currently being driven by warmer temperatures and recent rainfall events which have created additional mosquito breeding sites."No human cases of West Nile virus have been reported this year, though experts at CAES said Friday that precautions should be taken especially through the end of the summer.
