FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - A Fort Lauderdale doctor said, Thursday, he is treating a patient who has contracted the Zika virus.Test results for the 54-year-old woman indicate she has contracted the virus, according to the doctor.The North Miami resident said she has not traveled to the active transmission zones of Wynwood or Miami Beach.

There hasn't been a locally-contracted case of Zika in Broward County officially but a recent positive result at the Broward Medical and Urgent Care Center could be the first.A 54-year-old woman who came to the clinic at 103 Southeast 23rd Street last week was complaining of muscle aches, fatigue and a rash.The doctor tested her for Zika and sent it off to the state lab where it was confirmed she has the virus.
