Britain's Prince Philip admitted to hospital with infection stat : Chicago Tribune

Prince Philip has been admitted to a hospital for treatment of an infection and will not be able to attend the queen's speech, Buckingham Palace said Wednesday. Philip, Queen Elizabeth II's husband, was admitted as a precautionary measure and is in good spirits, the palace said. The palace said Philip is being treated at the King Edward VII Hospital in London after being admitted Tuesday night. The queen and Philip both suffered from severe cases of the flu at Christmas but have recovered. He has suffered a blocked coronary artery and a severe bladder infection in recent years but has been in generally good health.

The Duke of Edinburgh has left hospital after undergoing treatment for an infection. He was seen being driven away from the King Edward VII Hospital on Thursday morning Sky News reports. Prince Philip turned 96 on 10 June. The 96-year-old was admitted to hospital as 'a precautionary measure' on Tuesday evening due to the infection arising from a pre-existing condition. Philip still has a busy calendar of engagements to fulfil before he steps down, which includes hosting the King and Queen of Spain in July.
