First Human Case of West Nile Virus Reported in Long Beach
The first human case of West Nile Virus in Long Beach has been reported, city health officials confirmed Thursday.The case was reported on Aug. 26, but no further details were provided about the patient, according to a news release issued by the city of Long Beach.This year there have been two West Nile Virus related deaths in California, and 78 human cases of the virus reported in 17 counties including Los Angeles, San Diego and Orange.
